Air Conditioning

Best working temperature range for TECO Air conditioner is 5°C ~ 35°C.

People have to understand that every air conditioner works under extreme temperatures, but the temperature will have an effect on the heat exchange therefore the performance will vary due to outside temperature.

Your TECO retailer or installer can provide you with advice or your nearest supplier for the best selection for your needs.

Portable AC

Ensure the exhaust air intake is clean and clear of dirt and dust. This can be found at the rear of the portable AC.
In addition, clean the filters. For full instructions, visit the Care & Maintenance page HERE.

Split Systems

  • Check return air filters if dirty or blocked
  • Check return air filters if dirty or blocked
  • Ensure the temperature is set correctly on the Remote controller
  • Wait 3 minutes for the Compressor to start, as the compressor protection has been activated
  • Ensure the circuit breaker has not tripped/ fuse blown, or isolator switch turned off.
  • Unit may be unplugged from the power point
  • Check and replace batteries in Remote Controller
  • Check timer setting on Remote Controller
  • Check and clean return airfilters
  • Make sure that all doors and windows are closed to the surrounding rooms whilst the Unit is in operation
  • Draw window curtains or closeblinds during low ambient temperature conditions
  • Check temperature setting on Remote Controller
  • The Outdoor heat exchanger may be dirty or ventilation restricted
  • The Indoor heat exchanger and scroll fan may be dirty resulting in reduced air flow
  • The system may be low on Refrigerant due to a leak
  • Low ambient temperature
  • When the unit restarts in HEAT mode after defrosting, a white mist may be emitted from the Indoor Heat exchanger from the defrosting process
  • Frost often builds up on the Outdoor heat exchanger due to low ambient temperatures and high humidity in Heating modeA white mist may be emitted from the Outdoor unit during and after the defrosting process
  • Check and clean return airfilters
  • Make sure that all doors and windows are closed to the surrounding rooms whilst the Unit is in operation
  • Draw window curtains or closeblinds during high ambient temperature conditions
  • Reduce heat sources in the room
  • Check temperature setting on Remote Controller
  • The Outdoor heat exchanger may be dirty or ventilation restricted
  • The Indoor heat exchanger and scroll fan may be dirty resulting in reduced air flow
  • The system may be low on Refrigerant due to a leak
  • In Heating, frost forms on the Outdoor heat exchanger and periodic defrosting takes place which results in water collecting in the base of the Outdoor Unit
  • A drain line needs to be fitted to the base of the Outdoor Unit to channel the water to an appropriate location
  • In Cooling, when warm and moist air comes in contact with the cold Indoor heat exchanger, condensation takes place and the resultant water is channelled via a drain line to the outside.
  • Check drain line, if a block has occurred
  • Crackling noise: Normal expansion and contraction of plastic and metal parts caused by temperature changes during heating
  • Hissing noise: This is normal and is caused by Refrigerant flowing through both indoor and Outdoor Units
  • Whooshing noise: This is normal and is caused by the Reversing Valve swapping over from cooling to heating or vice versa or at the start and end of the defrost process
  • In Heating, the Indoor Fan operation is activated by a temperature sensor fitted to the heat exchanger and starts up only after the Compressor starts up and pumps hot Refrigerant into the Indoor heat exchanger
  • The process is called anti-cold wind function and could take 3-5 minutes for the Indoor fan to start up
  • Check return air filters if dirty or blocked
  • Ensure the correct Mode is selected, select HEAT or the SUN icon on your Remote Controller for Heating
  • Ensure the temperature is set correctly on the Remote controller
  • Wait 3 minutes for theCompressor to start, as the compressor protection has been activated
  • Wait 3-5 minutes for the Indoor fan to start as the anti-cold wind function has been activated
  • As a general rule, you should clean your air conditioner filters within the indoor unit every month

  • The filters are dirty, mould and mildew may have accumulated inside
  • Odours from cooking, smoking, furniture etc. is drawn into the Unit via the return airand is recirculated back into the room

Kitchen Dishwashers

  • Drain hose may be kinked
  • Check and clean filter
  • Drain line from kitchen sink may be blocked
  • The dishes are not loaded correctly
  • Select a more intense wash program
  • Some items of crockery were preventing the spray arm from spinning
  • The spray arm jets are blocked
  • Improper loading of cutlery.
  • Insufficient rinse –aid
  • Dishes removed too soon
  • Check that the water supply is connected properly and that the tap is turned on
  • Water pressure is low
  • The door may not be closed and latched properly
  • A spray arm hitting against some crockery or cutlery items inside the Dish Washer
  • Rattling noise from some items of crockery sitting loosely inside
  • Water spraying noise
  • Check and level Dishwasher

Laundry Dryers

  • Clean the exterior of your Dryer with a sponge, warm water, and baking soda and wipe it dry with a piece of dry cloth.
  • Cleaners such as soap powder, abrasive cleaning powder, alkali cleaners, chemical cloths, thinners, alcohol, acid petroleum products and hot water should not be used to clean the Dryer as they may damage the painted surfaces
  • The door latch is faulty
  • Too many items of clothing in the Dryer, remove excess

  • CPress the Start/Pause button
  • Check that the door is securely closed
  • Check that a program has been selected
  • The lint filter is blocked. The lint filter mustbe cleaned after each load to prevent over heating
  • A garment obstructing the filter
  • Exhaust outlets obstructed
  • Insufficient ventilation for the Dryer to operate safely
  • The Dryer is fitted with a safety cut off system which is activated by excessive heat
  • Wait for at least 10 minutes for the Dryer to cool before pressing the safety reset button
  • Check and clean the lint filter
  • Check that a suitable program has been selected

Refrigerators & Freezers

  • Freshness in your refrigerator or freezer can be affected by how food is stored. Some foods have a strong odour, please cover them tightly.
  • Clean the interior of your refrigerator or freezer with a sponge, warm water, and baking soda and wipe it dry with a piece of dry cloth.
  • Cleaners such as soap powder, abrasive cleaning powder, alkali cleaners, chemical cloths, thinners, alcohol, acid petroleum products and hot water should not be used to clean the Refrigerator as they may damage the painted surfaces and plastics
  • is easy to damage the door gaskets if dirt, spillages from oils, sauces etc. are not cleaned regularly
  • The drip tray located at the back of the Refrigerator should be emptied and cleaned once a year. Do not attempt to remove the drip tray as it may cause damage to the Refrigerant piping. Use a sponge or towel to soak up the water and dispose accordingly
  • High ambient temperature
  • The doors may be opened too frequently
  • The Refrigerator temperature is set too low
  • Large amounts of warm food recently placed inside the Refrigerator compartment
  • Large amounts of unfrozen meats recently placed inside the Freezer compartment

  • This happens on all Frost Free Refrigerators due to the air ducts between compartments. If the fridge is installed correctly (slightly leaning backwards) the door should close automatically after it pops open.
  • This is normal due to Refrigerant flowing through the pipework located throughout the Refrigerator
  • If the Refrigerator is transported in an upright position, the refrigerator should be left switched off for at least one hour.
  • If the Refrigerator is transported on its side, the Refrigerator should be left switched off for at least eight hours.
  • Check the level of the Refrigerator and adjust the front legs if necessary as it may be unbalanced or unstable
  • Rearrange any bottles placed inside Refrigerator as they maybe rattling against each other
  • Check if there are any objects placed on top of the Refrigerator
  • Do not operate the freezer at the coldest setting
  • Allow hot foods to cool to room temperature before placing into the Refrigerator compartment.
  • Ensure the door gasket seals tightly to the cabinet when the door is closed.
  • Keep the door opening times to a minimum.
  • Locate the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any heating appliances (i.e. cookers, dishwashers).
  • Do not block air vents by overloading the Refrigerator, this will inhibit airflow causing the unit to run longer, and therefore use up more energy.
  • The temperature in the fridge should average between 2° C to 6° C.
  • The temperature in the freezer should average between be -16° C to -20° C.
  • The Refrigerator should be transported in an upright position.
  • It is normal for the outside of the Refrigerator or Freezer cabinet to be warmer than room temperature. This happens when the compressor is operating and using the walls of the cabinet as a heat exchanger.
  • Ensure that there is adequate ventilation on either side and on the top of the Refrigerator

Washing Machines

  • Clean the exterior with a mild non-abrasive cleaning agent or soap and water using a well rung-out cloth. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
  • Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, glass cleaners or all-purpose cleaning agents. These might damage plastic surfaces and other components because of the chemicals they contain

  • Check and remove shipping bolts from rear of machine
  • Washing machine not levelled, adjust legs
  • Load not distributed evenly
  • Leaking water from the inlet hose, check and replace inlet hose gasket
  • Clean blocked soap dispenser
  • Drain line blocked
  • Check for kinks in drain hose
  • Check and clean drain pump filter
  • Water tap turned off or water pressure too low
  • Inlet hose kinked or not connected properly
  • The filter media in the inlet valve is blocked

Televisions

  • Check if the TIMER or SLEEP TIMER is set.
  • TV maybe overheated. Remove any objects/dust blocking the vents.
  • There is 3 models that require a firmware update.
  • They are LED19JHRDHU, LED24JFRDHU and LED32JHRDHU.
  • Visit our TV firmware page for instructions and download the firmware update.
  • Check that the antenna cables are connected correctly and securely.
  • Press SOURCE/ INPUT on the Remote Controller or on the side panel, and select the correct input source.
  • Test the input port with other device and connect the device on other input ports
  • Is the volume too low? Press the Vol+.
  • Check the cables and connections. Make sure they are connected correctly and fitted securely
  • Check the audio setting on the external

  • Check the condition and length of the cables. Cables that have been bent or pinched may also cause picture quality problems. Replace the cable
  • Press the CH button to display a different channel. If the Picture quality does not improve it may be caused by a poor signal (antenna) or the cable signalsource.
  • Rescan the channel. Contact a qualified antenna installer to check the antenna if needed.
  • Contrast, Brightness, Colour etc.) in the Menu.
  • Check the video setting on the externaldevice
  • Check if Mains Power is on.
  • Replace the batteries and make sure the batteries are inserted correctly.
  • Make sure to aim the Remote Controller transmitter directly to the TV receiver within  the seven  meter range
  • Make sure the TV and the power cord are connected correctly
  • Plug in another device to the outlet and make sure there is power coming from theoutlet.
  • Press POWER on the remote control or on the sidepanel
